<p class=Default><span style='font-size:14.0pt'>How many human sexes are there?
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=Default><span style='font-size:14.0pt'>Most people would answer
"two" without hesitation. However, historically, there has been and
continues to be disagreement about this question. For centuries, females were
considered degenerate or underdeveloped males rather than members of their own
sex. On this view, there is really only one biological sex, but individuals
typify that sex to a greater or lesser degree. In recent centuries, matters
changed. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

Issues course (Philosophy 202), Shannon Deawill sketch the history and
arguments at play in the sex debate, and will connect them with some
