Simpson</span></b><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>,
CEO of the Ontario Problem Gambling Research Centre (OPGRC), will be on campus
to give a talk about the OPGRC and its &#8220;Problem Gambling
Framework,&#8221; a document that identifies the Centre&#8217;s priority areas
for research and research funding.&nbsp; Mr. Simpson will be discussing UW&#8217;s
role in the Framework, and will provide information about the OPGRC funding
program, which granted over $3 million last year for problem gambling
research.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoPlainText><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>This
event also marks the launch of the <b>Waterloo Emerging Team </b>for research
in problem gambling. The new Waterloo Team will investigate the impacts of the
gambling environment (particularly slot machine design) on gambling behaviour.&nbsp;
Led by Dr. Kevin Harrigan, and supported by $500,000 in OPGRC funding, this
multi-disciplinary research group includes Drs. Glenn Stillar, David Goodwin,
Jill Tomasson Goodwin, and Mike Dixon, and doctoral student Jeff Stacey.&nbsp; <o:p></o:p></span></p>
