<p class="MsoNormal">Hope your summers are all going well and you are
enjoying
your Canada Day holiday!<span style=""> </span>The
Anthropology Society has been busy planning some great events for the
up-coming
2009-2010 academic year, and we have managed to plan some events for
this
summer for those of you who are on campus this term. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Our first event of the summer will be the Anthro
Movie Night
on Wednesday, July 8<sup>th</sup>, from 6pm to 10pm in PAS 2086. We
will be
getting together to watch two anthropology-related films: Indiana Jones
and
Gorillas in the Mist. There will be free pizza and pop, and feel free
to bring
any snacks!<span style=""> </span>For those of you who don’t
know the PAS building well, Room 2086 is on the main floor, right
beside the
center stairwell with the skylight. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]--><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">AnthSoc is also planning a trip to the 30th annual
Grand
River Champion of Champions Pow Wow in Ohsweken, Ontario, on Saturday,
July 25<sup>th</sup>.
The Champion of Champions Pow Wow attracts pow wow dancers from all
over North
America and involves pow wow dance contests, smoke dance competitions,
native
craft vendors and food vendors, and lots of music. We will be meeting
early on
Saturday morning and carpooling to the pow wow grounds.<span style="">
</span>Admission is $10 a person, and we should be
back at UW by 6pm at the latest.<span style=""> </span>In
order to decide further details, AnthSoc needs to have a head count of
how many
people plan to attend this event.<span style=""> </span>If
you happen to be interested, please contact Erin at <a
href="mailto:estieler@uwaterloo.ca">estieler@uwaterloo.ca</a> and let
her know
whether you will be providing a ride or will be needing a ride. </p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Lastly, AnthSoc is also planning a trip to the
Caribana
Festival in Toronto this year, where we will be carpooling to see the
Caribana
Parade on Saturday, August 2<sup>nd</sup>. $5 a person would be
required in
order to chip in for gas, and additional costs for taking the street
car to the parade grounds may apply. If you are interested in

<p class="MsoNormal">Some events and other things to look forward to in
the up-coming
academic year include a BBQ, regular hang-out times in our new and
improved
student lounge, more movie nights, international cuisine dinners, a
trip to the
ROM, Meet the Profs Night, Anthropology hoodies, and possibly a session
on
native drumming. </p>
